Our Origins: How Grange Garden Coffee was Born

Before Grange Garden Coffee was born… Melissa Biggs Clark, and husband Roger Clark always knew there would be a phase two. In fact, the owners originally planned for a beer garden! Everything changed when we threw our Sips with Santa event in winter of 2021.

At this legendary event 175 kids lined up to meet Santa Claus. While families were woo’d by our hot chocolate bar we staged to welcome Mr. Claus. We were so grateful to the community for showing up for us that we chose to honor that with a different approach.

“Because of our success with our fall and winter events, and all of the kids that showed up we decided coffee was a much more wholesome way to start Grange Garden… and keep our family presence” – Melissa

Grange Garden tested the market for another coffee shop on Cedros, and broke ground on the build out in January 2022. By June, our state-of-the-art mobile coffee cart was ready. We secured our health permit and hired a coffee consultant. Starting with just a keurig and a milk frother we curated our garden inspired signatures. One of our favorites is the “The Forager” an earthy matcha latte lush with vanilla and lavender accents. Finally, we pulled the trigger on our beautiful, Italian La Spaziale espresso Machine.

Grange Garden Coffee had its grand opening September of 2022. Our calming outdoor atmosphere and bunny friends have helped to create a welcoming space that sets truly sets us apart. The Solana Beach community has expressed great gratitude that they can stop by for an evening coffee until 6pm. (8pm-5pm winter hours).

Grange Garden’s next step will be pulling the trigger on our liquor license. Hopefully we will be adding kegs to the Garden Bar in the coming year.

We offer complimentary samples daily, so come by to try our drinks, or pet a bunny, but beware you might never want to leave our garden.
